DUANE AND MARGIE HOFERMAN
of rural Alta, celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on October 26. Duane & Margie were united in marriage at the Assembly of God Church in Truesdale, on Sunday the 26th of October, 1952. Duane had recently finished serving his country with the Navy & Marine Corps during the Korean War after graduating from Alta High school and growing up on his family's farm east of Alta. Margie had recently graduated from Truesdale High school after growing up with her family in that same city, and was working as a Nurses Aid at Buena Vista County Hospital where she did so for 12 years.
Duane and Margie have been very active with their local church, Alta United Methodist. Margie started volunteer work through Truesdale's Assembly of God Church for the Buena Vista County Home, now Spectra Health Care, when she was a teenager, with Duane joining her a short time later. They have continued to faithfully serve the residents of this health care facility nonstop for well over 50 years. Both have taught Sunday school classes and were very active with the Assembly of God churches in Truesdale and then Storm Lake.
Duane and Margie retired from farming in 2001 with Duane retiring from the Buena Vista County REC in `91 after over 30 years of service to this and surrounding counties.
Duane and Margie have two sons, LeMoine and Keith Hoferman, who both graduated from Alta High school. LeMoine now lives and works in Spirit Lake, and Keith lives and works in Des Moines. Duane and Margie share ten wonderful grandchildren between their two sons, and enjoy spending time throughout the year with them on their farm and at the grandchildren's homes. Duane & Margie will be celebrating this great milestone privately with their sons and their families.
