At approximately 1:34 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 13, the Buena Vista County Sheriff's Office received a report of telephone harassment.
The report was called in by a third party and a deputy contacted the victims.
The victims advised that Todd Rooney, 33, of Marathon had called their residence after midnight and harassed them over the phone.
The victims, Jason Kennaway and Mari Ann Perkins, said their lives had been threatened by Rooney.
After an investigation, two counts of Harassment, 2nd Degree, (an aggravated misdemeanor) have been issued for Rooney.
Rooney was arrested and booked into the Buena Vista County Jail.
On Thursday, Oct. 9, at approximately 1:50 a.m., the Buena Vista County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a person attempting to stop traffic while walking on M-43 near 660th Street. When deputies arrived to the area, they discovered an accident had occurred approximately a quarter mile south of 660th Street and M-43.
One vehicle, a 1986 Oldsmobile Delta, was found in the west ditch facing south. The owner of the vehicle, Amy Rake, was found walking just south of where the accident had occurred.
Rake told deputies she was traveling southbound on M-43 when she swerved to avoid striking a deer. As a result, she drove into the ditch. The vehicle received damages estimated at $1,000.
Rake was arrested and charged with Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated, 1st Offense (serious misdemeanor), and having no proof of insurance (simple misdemeanor).
Rake was transported to the Buena Vista County Sheriff's Office and was later released pending a court date.
