Mickelson Commercial Rentals to offer place for large storage
For nine years, Steph Mickelson has helped put people around Storm Lake back on the road as the owner of Mickelson Tire Company, a business providing car and truck owners with new tires of all brands and sizes.
Mickelson is hoping customers soon use those tires to truck in items to his new 9,120 square-foot rental building on West Milwaukee, as Mickelson is planning to open the doors of the seven stalls in Mickelson Commercial Rentals within the next 30 days.
The new structure, located immediately east of Mickelson Tire, will be used primarily as space for large commercial leasing, but two of the seven stalls will be equipped with running water, sewer lines, heat and electricity, allowing small business owners to set up shop in the spaces if they desire.
Mickelson said he had originally envisioned the area to be the home of a convenience store, but said his present time commitments at the tire store and the need for a large rental building in town convinced him to construct Mickelson Commercial Rentals instead.
"I looked around and Storm Lake didn't have a building like this, so I thought this might work here in town," Mickelson said. "It's not for motorhomes or anything like that, but it will be a place that will be bigger than the typical garage-size rental space."
Mickelson said each of the stalls, which will be approximately 1,300 square feet with 16-foot high ceilings, will be able to be leased for one year periods, with rates depending on whether the desired stall contains any extra amenities. Construction work on the facility is expected to be completed by the third week in November.
