Funeral Services for Rose Belle Andersen, 63, of Marathon, were held Tuesday, October 1, 2002, at the United Methodist Church in Marathon, with Reverend David Schumann officiating.
Rose Belle Andersen died on September 27, 2002, at her home in Marathon.
Rose Belle was born on January 10, 1939, near Marathon, the daughter of Wilbur and Fern (Martin) Peterson. Rose Belle graduated from Marathon High School in 1957. She worked for Garton Electric in Marathon before her marriage. On March 9, 1963, Rose Belle married Howard Andersen at Marathon. The couple lived their entire married life on their farm near Marathon. She sold Avon Cosmetics, worked on the farm and raised chickens. Howard died on August 31, 1984, and Rose Belle has continued to make her home on the farm.
Rose Belle was a forty-eight year member of the United Methodist Church in Marathon. She was active in the church, having been a Sunday School teacher and recently serving on the church board. She also belonged to various church and neighborhood clubs. Rose Belle enjoyed quilting and gardening in her spare time. She especially enjoyed working at the Spencer Daily Reporter booth at the Clay County Fair.
Survivors include her children Joel Andersen of Des Moines, Carol Andersen of Jackson, Miss., and Steven Andersen of Webb; grandson, Cory Andersen of Aurelia; sister, Sharon (Darrel) McConkey of Storm Lake; brother, Wilbur Peterson of Maurice; several nieces and nephews.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents, husband Howard, and sister Alice Matson.
