Robert W. Crawford, age 80, of Storm Lake died on Sunday, September 22, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake following a lengthy illness.
The body has been cremated and memorial services will be scheduled at a later date. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home of Storm Lake is assisting the family with the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Storm Lake.
Robert Wagy Crawford was born January 20, 1922 in Watertown, South Dakota the son of Peter and Hazel (Holland) Crawford. He attended schools in Nebraska and then graduated from high school in Flandreau, S.D. He studied foreign trade, accounting and psychology at the University of Southern California and graduated with a degree in accounting from John Muir College in Pasadena, CA.
He was a veteran of World War II and served with the United States Army Medical Corps in the European Theatre. He worked as a painter and retired from the Los Angeles City School District in 1976.
He married Elisabeth Marckmann on September 7, 1947 in Pasadena, CA. The couple resided and raised their family in Duarte, CA., and moved to Storm Lake in 1980.
Robert was a member of the Storm Lake congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.
He is survived by his wife, Elisabeth, Storm Lake; a daughter, Charlotte Kuhnes and her husband, Maynard, Storm Lake; four sons: Robert Crawford Jr. and his wife, Louise, Canby, Oregon, Mike Crawford and his wife, Eunice, Okoboji, Dennis Crawford, Blachly, Ore., and Roger Crawford, Cheyenne, WY. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; a sister, Etta Farris, Toppenish, WA; and a brother Chuck Crawford and his wife, Phyllis of Arizona City, AZ.
His parents and an 8 year-old sister, Rosalie, died earlier.
