$13 million fund drive complete, mystery donor is revealed at ground-breaking Monday
It's another major step forward for Buena Vista University, with President Fred Moore's announcement yesterday that the institution has raised $13 million to match an anonymous donor's $13 million challenge pledge for a new science center on the Storm Lake campus.
"I'm delighted that we met our fundraising goal," Moore said. "Thanks to the generosity of our alumni and friends, BVU will now begin construction on what will be the most impressive science facility in the region."
The identify of the anonymous donor will be revealed at a groundbreaking event next Monday.
Plans for the new science center call for a 70,000-square-foot building that is projected to meet the needs of BVU's science program for the next 30 years. It carries an $18 million construction cost - plus an $8 million endowment necessary for its operation and maintenance.
