Funeral Services for Doris M. Weber, 77, of Early, were held Monday, September 16, at the United Methodist Church in Early, with Reverend Karl Schiltz and Reverend Carol Guily officiating.
Farber and Otteman Funeral Home in Sac City was in charge of arrangements.
Doris died on Thursday, September 12, at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City. Doris was born on May 17, 1925 the daughter of Nelson and Esther (Phillips) from LeMars High School in 1943 and later from Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. She taught in Storm Lake, Sioux City and did some substitute teaching later as her children were growing. Doris was united in marriage to John W. Weber on August 4, 1949 at Adaville. They had four children: John N., Mark, Kimberly and Todd. They farmed and lived in the Early area all their married lives.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Early and was active in the U.M.W. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, University of Northern Iowa Alumni Association, Early Women's Club, Eastern Star Chapter No. 18, O.E.S. Sac City, Past Matrons and served on the Early Public Library Board.
She was well known for her fabulous flower garden and in earlier years her vegetable garden. She liked to crochet and was an avid reader.
Doris is survived by her children: John Nelson Weber and his wife Jeannette, Mark Weber and his wife Sandy all of Early, Kimberly Eckerle and her husband Ted of Monticello, IN., and Todd Weber and his wife Mary of Norfolk, NE; 11 grandchildren; four step grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers; her twin Donald Brown and his wife Lucille of Merrill, and Melvin Brown and his wife Marilyn of Westfield; five sisters-in-law; Jo Brown of Merrill, Vivian Keuhn and her husband Guy of Trenton, MO, Dorothy Yanak and her husband Rich of Lincoln, NE; Geri Boger of Lake View, and Hallie Mason and her husband Lee of Early.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband John W. on February 22, 1999 and a brother Floyd.
