Norma Caroline Schuelke, 86, of Stockton, Calif., died Friday, Aug. 23, 2002, in a hospital.
Norma was born Oct. 31, 1915, in Alta. She moved to California where she lived in Santa Cruz for 20 years before moving to Stockton six years ago.
She worked in public relations and editorial capacities in Chicago and San Francisco. She taught sixth grade in Alta for nine years in the 1960s. In Florida she worked for the Orlando Sentinel and the Palm Beach Times.
During World War II, she worked for the USO in Chicago.
She moved to California in 1973 and worked in communications in San Diego. She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Santa Cruz and St. Andrew's Lutheran Church.
Survivors include nieces and nephews, Pat Guntert and Ann Coykendall, both of Stockton, Calif., Alice Schwene of Huntington Beach, Calif., Allan Schuelke of Tennessee, Dr. Tom Boggess of Fresno, Calif., Grant Rehder of Wisconsin and Bert Rehder of Kansas.
A memorial has been established at Good Shepherd Fund, P.O. Box 629, Santa Cruz, CA 95061.
