Search continues for two men using fraudulent checks in SL area

Police believe more people are involved

The Storm Lake Police Department continues to search for two suspects in connection with trying to cash fraudulent IBP payroll checks.

On the afternoon of Saturday, Aug. 31, at approximately 1:39 p.m., the Storm Lake Police Department was dispatched to the Fareway Grocery Store located at 404 E. 7th St. in reference to two subjects attempting to cash fraudulent IBP payroll checks.

Upon arrival of police, they were able to apprehend one subject, but two others had fled the scene prior to the arrival of police.

Police were advised that Fareway Store employees became suspicious when they observed addresses on the payroll checks that did not exist in Storm Lake. Employees advised that three Hispanic males entered the store and two of them attempted to cash the fraudulent checks.
