Buena Vista County Public Health and Home Care held its open house last week to celebrate the merger of the two agencies.
On July 1, 2002, Buena Vista County Public Health Nursing and Buena Vista County Homemaker Home Care Aide Agency united to become one agency.
Buena Vista County Public Health and Home Care is located at the courthouse annex at 1709 East Richland in Storm Lake. The agency's mission is to promote and advocate healthy behaviors of all county residents to reach and maintain their optimal level of care and quality of life. All agency programs are designed to prevent disease, aid in rehabilitation, provide education, and enhance our clients's ability to remain in their home.
Services available include immunization clinics, flu clinics, Tuberculosis testing, HIV/Hepatitis B testing, free blood pressure screening and clinics, skilled nursing, health promotion and health maintenance home visits, home care aide assistance with personal cares, and home maker assistance with house cleaning, grocery shopping, laundry and transportation. The agency also offers public speaking to groups, businesses and organizations.
"What we want the community to know about us is that we are here for the residents of Buena Vista County," said Diane Anderson, administrator of Buena Vista County Public Health and Home Care. "Their health and safety are important to us and are our main concern."
