His name is everywhere on the BVU campus, but who was the man really?
Buena Vista University has a challenge from an anonymous donor to construct a new science center. But it's not the first time in the university's history that it has been issued such a challenge.
It was an anonymous gift of $18 million with an additional challenge of $9 million in 1980 that transformed then-Buena Vista College into what it is today.
Besides constructing a state-of-the-art business school and conference center, the gift created the school's endowment and supported development of regionally recognized academic programs, and made possible such events as the William W. Siebens American Heritage Lecture Series and the Academic and Cultural Events Series.
That gift came from Dr. Harold Walter Siebens - oilman, philanthropist and Storm Lake native.
