Funeral services for Dewayne "Bud" Bechtel, 59, of Storm Lake will be 11 a.m. Friday, August 2, at Barker Funeral Home in Alta, with Pastor Duane Olson officiating.
Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Alta. Visitation will be Thursday, August 1 from 4 to 8 p.m., with family present from 6 - 8 p.m.
Bud passed away at home following a lengthy illness.
Dewayne was born the son of Loval and Ethel (Sailor) Bechtel on May 1, 1943 in Boone. He grew up in Delavan, MN, with his aunt Darlene Lewis. Bud married Marla Herzberg on November 20, 1965 in Nevada. He drove truck and worked road construction for many years. Bud enjoyed fishing, watching television, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Marla of Storm Lake; four daughters, Jeannie and her husband Scott Condon of Clare, Connie Bechtel and her special friend Mike of Antioch, TN, Jodi and her husband Trent Thevenot of Schaller, and Joleene Bechtel of Fort Dodge; two sons, Tim Bechtel and his wife Regan of Aurelia and John Bechtel and his wife Dawn of Laurens; 18 grandchildren, Jessica, Krystal, Ashley, Ty, Trisha, Chaz, Shelby, Joshawa, Kyle, Kody, Trish, Derek, Austin, Schuvler, Levi, Kimberly, Brandon, and Eric; three brothers, Roland and Angela Bechtel of Clinton, Jerry and Irene Bechtel of Clinton and Melvin Bechtel of Stratford; one sister, Arvella Nunley of Stratford; and many other relatives throughout Iowa and Minnesota.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Kenneth and Earl; two sisters, Nancy Bechtel and Shirley Lundberg; and a very special aunt, Darlene Lewis.
