Audiences enthusiastic in European tour
European vacations may commonly include watching the changing of the guard at the Tower of London, leisurely having lunch in an outdoor Parisian cafe or drifting down a canal in Venice, but do they include musical performances in front of crowds of hundreds?
They might if you're one of four Storm Lake High School music students who toured Europe as part of the Iowa Ambassadors of Music - a summer program giving high school musicians a chance to perform in some of the most renowned cities of Europe.
Students Lisa DeMan, Sara Hawkins, Brenda Iehl and Mathew Hoskins spent two weeks in a whirlwind tour, bringing them to Britain, France, Switzerland, Italy, Austria and Germany. DeMan, Hawkins and Iehl performed with the Ambassadors Choir, while Hoskins played with the Ambassadors Band. Together, the groups consisted of 233 Iowa music students.
