Recognized by Iowa Association of Track and Field Coaches
Amy Wulfekuhler of Storm Lake has been recognized by the Iowa Association of Track and Field Coaches as a member of the elite all-state team for her outstanding performance in this year's state track and field meet.
Wulfekuhler long jumped 18 feet, 5 1/2 inches at the state meet, which also set a new Storm Lake school record. The top four performances in each event, regardless of class, in the state are awarded this honor.
Wulfekuhler is only the second female since 1984 to earn all-state track honors. The other was Tarrel Zweibahmer, who high jumped 5-7 to win the Class 2A state title in 1989. Zweibahmer's jump was the second best in all three classes at state that year.
