DAWN SLIEFERT AND GREGORY SPIESS

Dawn Elizabeth Sliefert and Gregory Dean Spiess were united in marriage on April 13, 2002 at the Church of Christ in Alta. Rev. Rick Bender officiated at the 4:30 p.m. wedding. Parents of the couple are Don and Dianne Sliefert and Larry and Darlene Spiess all of Alta. Seating the guests were Dave Sliefert, Sitka, Alaska and Dan Sliefert, Alta, brothers of the bride.

The bride wore a satin gown with pearl and sequined bodice and straight skirt with a detachable train. Her headpiece was a crown of pearls and sequins, the veil was waist length and had a double layer of tulle accented with pearls. She carried a cascading bouquet of red roses. Serving as Matron of Honor was Sherri Huizenga, Orange City, friend of the bride. Bridesmaids were Amy Mrsyn, Wayne, NE., friend of the bride, Deb Swieca, Sugar Grove, IL., and Darci Sauter, Alta, both sisters of the bride and Nikki Sliefert, niece of the bride. Personal attendant was Brooke Sliefert, niece of the bride. Flower girl was Alyssa Sliefert, Surprise, AZ, niece of the bride. The bridesmaids wore long black satin gowns and carried a single red rose. The flower girls dress was white and she carried a basket of red rose petals.

Serving as best man was Larry Spiess, father of the groom. Groomsmen were Dan Sokolowski and Todd Lange, both of Storm Lake, friends of the groom; Darin Sliefert, Surprise, AZ, brother of the bride; and Joey Marino, Glendale, CA, cousin of the groom. Ring bearer was Taylor Spiess, son of the groom. The groom wore a black tux with a white vest and tie, the groomsmen all wore black tuxes with black and white vests.

Pianist Tom Lichter, Storm Lake, provided music for the wedding. Tom, Deb Swieca and Darci Sauter were vocalists. Before the bride was escorted down the isle on the arm of her father, she sang "OnIy God Could Love You More" to Greg. During the ceremony Tom and Deb sang "Keeper of the Stars," Darci and Tom sang, "I Will Be Here" and Tom sang "This is the Day."

Following the ceremony a reception and dance was held at the Alta Community Building. Host and Hostess were Jim and Syd Barber, aunt and uncle of the bride and Matt and Sherri Kacmarynski, Tea, S.D., sister and brother-in-law of the groom. Pat Lange, friend of the groom served punch.

Kitchen workers were Goldie Poulson, Valerie Lichter, Cindy Rice and Jan Madsen all friends of the bride. Waiters were Brian and Kyle Sauter, Matthew Swieca and Tyler Sliefert, all nephews of the bride.

Gift carriers were Steve Sauter, brother-in-law of the bride and Eric and Robbie Sauter, nephews of the bride. The couple took a honeymoon trip to Jamaica. They now reside in Spencer, where Greg is Assistant Manager of the Family Table and Dawn is a Supervisor over several counties for Hope Haven.
