Dennis "Ben" Hoffmeier was born September 18, 1961, the son of Ralph and Marion Didier Hoffmeier.
He died Thursday, July 11, 2002, at his home in Storm Lake, at the age of 41.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 15, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Denison.
Rev. David Sewing and Vicar James Krueger officiated the service with grave side rites held at the Crawford Heights Memory Gardens in Denison. The Huebner Funeral Home in Denison was in charge of arrangements.
Ben was born in Denison, and was baptized in Christ on June 24, 1982 at St John Lutheran Church in Buck Grove and confirmed in May of 1978 at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. He received his education in the Denison Community Schools, graduating from the Denison High School with the class of 1981.
He moved to Garden City, Kansas in 1982, where Ben worked at IBP for one year. He returned to Denison and worked in the area until 1984, when he moved to Storm Lake where he was employed at the time of his death.
Ben was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Denison and also the National Guard in Garden City, Kansas. As a little boy, he enjoyed playing on a Little League Team. He was an avid sports fan, enjoying car races, football and the New York Yankees Baseball Team. Ben loved music, watching television, movies and collecting Joe Camel memorabilia.
Ben was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Survivors include his parents, Ralph and Marion Hoffmeier of Denison; four brothers: Byron Hoffmeier and his wife, Diann of Denison, Loren Hoffmeier of Polk City, Ron Hoffmeier and his wife, Cindy of Denison, Kevin Hoffmeier and his wife, Debbie of Magnolia; nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
