Funeral services for Franklyn Robert Frey, 69, of Spencer, formerly of Sibley, were held Saturday, July 6, at Hope Reformed Church with Pastor Perry DeGroot officiating.
Burial was in Riverside Cemetery in Spencer.
Franklyn Robert Frey, the son of Arnold and Marie Mayer Frey, was born September 1, 1932 in Sibley. His childhood years were spent in Sibley, where he received his education, graduating from Sibley High School in 1951.
Frank married Marlene Monkemeier on August 22, 1952 in Ashton. They began their marriage life in Sibley, and moved to Spencer in 1957, where they made their home. Franklyn was employed as a cable technician by Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in the spring of 1951. He retired 43 years later in July of 1994. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America for many years. Frank was also an active member of Hope Reformed Church in Spencer where he served as Elder, Deacon and various other committees and organizations.
Mr. Frey passed away at his home in Spencer, on Wednesday, July 3, at the age of 69. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Marie Frey.
Those left to cherish his memories are his loving wife, Marlene, six children: Lonnie Frey of West Des Moines and his sons, Matthew and David; Laurinda and husband, Tim Fitzgerald of Cedar Rapids and their daughters, Melissa and Erin; Lynette and husband, Gaylen Wunschel of Ida Grove and their daughters, Andrea, Kathryn and Amelia; Lyndell Frey and wife, Mary of Chanhassen, MN and their children, Megan and Benjamin; Latricia and husband, Jim Pascasio of Norwalk and their children, Jessica, Sarah and Andrew; Leland Frey and wife, Kirsten of Iowa City and their son, Nolan; one brother and wife, Fredric and Floanne Frey of Sioux City and many loved relatives and friends.
