Funeral services for Ralph Bruns, 74, of Aurelia, will be 2 p.m. Friday, July 12, at the First Congregational Church in Aurelia, with Lay Pastor Bruce Rapp officiating.
Burial will be in the Liberty Township Cemetery at Calumet. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m., with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Redig Funeral Home in Aurelia. Ralph died Sunday, July 7, at his home in Aurelia.
Ralph Edward Bruns was born May 13, 1928, the son of Charles and Lena (Stroman) Bruns near Granville, in O'Brien County. Ralph attended country schools in O'Brien County. On May 23, 1947 Ralph married Betty Lois Langholz. Ralph worked as a farm hand for several years, and the worked at the Farmer's Cooperative Elevator in Aurelia for 30 years. Ralph was a member of the First Congregation Church in Aurelia, and had held several church offices. He was a volunteer fireman for 19 years, a member of the Knights of Pythius, and liked to play cards.
Preceding Ralph in death were his parents; one daughter, Bernita; one grandson, Kevin; one brother, Leo Bruns; two brothers-in-law, Vernell Hoermann and Darrell Brotherton.
Survivors include his wife Betty of Aurelia; one daughter, Nadine Bruns of Sioux City; one son, Deloy and his wife Ronda Bruns of Aurelia; five grandchildren; two sisters, Clara and husband Burnell Koehlmoos of Paullina, and Betty Lou Brotherton of Paullina; three brothers, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bruns Jr. of Primghar, Mr. And Mrs. Richard Bruns of Paullina, and Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Bruns of Alton, and many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
