Funeral services for Nedra Arline Dettman, 78, of Sac City, formerly of Storm Lake, will be Tuesday, July 9, 10:30 a.m., at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Sac City with Pastor Mark Selby officiating. Burial will be in Cory Grove Cemetery in Sac City.
Nedra died Saturday, July 6, at her home in Sac City following a sudden illness.
Nedra was born in Storm Lake, on September 29, 1923, the daughter of Everett Early and Ida Belle (Hutchins) Haradon. She graduated from Lake View High School while working for families in the Lake View area.
On June 30, 1942, Nedra was united in marriage to Wilson Murley. To this union four children were born, Dale, Robert, Karen, and Gary. Nedra was later married to Marshall Dettman.
Nedra was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and the church women's organizations. She loved to help people and be a volunteer when ever possible. She was a hospital telecare volunteer, a former Hospice worker and recently a volunteer at the Sac City Museum. She enjoyed fishing and camping, loved to dance and play cards, belonging to several card groups. Going to garage sales was also one of her favorite activities. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and her many grandchildren and always wanting to help others. Her greatest desire in life was wanting to be a nurse.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Dale and Shirley Murley and Gary and Paula Murley all of Sac City, and Karen and Doug Thevenot of Bonner Springs, KS.; 12 grandsons and twelve great-grandchildren.
Nedra was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Robert Everett; her five brothers, Orlin, Clifford, Dwight, Lloyd, Melvin; two sisters, Mildred and Vinta.
