Stabbing incident lands SL man, woman in jail

On the morning of Sunday, July 7, at approximately 1:09 a.m. the Storm Lake Police Department was called to 115 West 2nd Streeton a report of a domestic disturbance.

Police found that a man at the residence had been stabbed in the shoulder. The male was conscious. The male identified as Saul Perez-Sanchez, age 25 of Storm Lake was transported to the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center where he was treated and later released.

Police determined in their investigation that Sanchez was involved in a fight with Alma Salazar, age 19, of Storm Lake. Police determined that Sanchez had assaulted Salazar and that Salazar had then stabbed Sanchez.

Police charged Sanchez with Domestic Assault. He was booked into the county jail and was held without bond.

Police charged Salazar with Going Armed With Intent (a class D felony) and Willful Injury (class C felony). She was booked into the County Jail on $22,750 cash bond.

Police took a 1 1/2 year old child from the home into protective custody and turned the child over the Iowa Department of Human Services.
