Change order approved by SL City Council

Wednesday, July 3, 2002

A change order was approved for the current street project on North Lake Avenue by the Storm Lake City Council this week.

The order adds $6,730 to the contract, increasing the total to $1,078,614.

The additional costs come from extra excavating work required at 10th Street and North Lake for water main repairs as well as for a different type of intake.

* The council granted a noise variance for the upcoming Relay for Life, Aug. 2-3, at the Storm Lake High School track.

This year's event will run from 6 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 2, until 7 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 3. This is the first year the event will be held overnight.

Relay organizers said they plan on notifying neighbors of the event.

* Several citizens were appointed to city boards and commissions during Monday's meeting. The citizens and their appointments include Tom Daniels - ADA; Dan Sokolowski and Robert Morris - Airport; Martin Crandell - Band; Bob Bennett - Board of Adjustment; Roberta Moore, Judy Smith and Deb Mummert - Library; Randy Johnson and John Fitzpatrick - Planning and Zoning; and Kate Fitzgerald and Pat Burns - Parks and Recreation.
