June 29 Services

Funeral services for Ron Stennerson, 64, of Sioux Rapids,were held Saturday, June 29, at the First Lutheran Church in Sioux Rapids, with Pastor Ray Miller and Father John F. Cain officiating. Final journey to Lone Tree Cemetery, Sioux Rapids, will be led by Jeff Koenig and his team of horses. Military Honors will be by the Graeber - Rowe American Legion Post #394 of Sioux Rapids. Visitation will be Friday from 4 - 8 p.m., with the family present from 6 - 8 p.m., at the Sliefert Redig Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids.

Ron died Wednesday, June 26, at his home in Sioux Rapids, surrounded by his family.

Ronald Duane Stennerson was born December 22, 1937, the son of Lawrence Kenneth and Mae (Huffman) Stennerson in Tempe, AZ. Ron was baptized April 15, 1938, at Grace Lutheran Church. His family moved to Sioux Rapids following his father's death in 1939. He was confirmed June 1, 1952, at the First Lutheran Church in Sioux Rapids. Ron graduated from the Sioux Rapids High School in 1956. He served in the Marine Corps from 1956 to 1958. On January 30, 1960, Ron married Betty Althea Anderson at the First Lutheran Church in Sioux Rapids. They farmed, and Ron worked at Hygrade. In September of 1975 they purchased the Soo Locker in Sioux Rapids, which they operated until their retirement in March of 2000. He also worked part-time as a meat inspector. Ron was a member of the First Lutheran Church, and enjoyed raising draft horse, trips to the horse sales in Waverly, saw milling, watching his grandchildren's sporting events, and deer hunting. Ron welcomed all into his home.

Preceding Ron in death were his parents, one brother, Junior Stennerson; stepfather, Clarence Kischer, and his wife Betty on June 16.

Survivors include four daughters, Linda and her husband Rich Madsen of Rembrandt, Lisa and her husband Bruce Ferguson of Sioux Rapids, LeAnn and her husband Eric Briesemeister of Marion, Lora and her husband Lewis Wright of Sac City; eight grandchildren, Becky and her husband Darin Brown, Jeff Madsen, Jason Ferguson, Stefanie Madsen, Justin Ferguson, Michele Ferguson, Nicholas Wright, and Megan Wright. Also surviving are one brother, Richard and his wife Ardyce Stennerson of Lame Deer, Mont; one niece, Rhonda Stennerson; two nephews, Rusty and Randy Stennerson all of Montana, and other relatives and friends.
