City updates citizens on current street improvements

Monday, June 17, 2002

The City of Storm Lake issued a progress statement Friday on the current street improvement projects.

The contractor has completed the removal of pavement between Western and Larchwood on West Fourth Street and has replaced the pavement on the west end of Shoreway Road to allow reopening of the intersection of Northwestern and Shoreway Road.

During the coming week crews are expected to continue work on the water and storm sewer lines on North Lake Avenue. The lead contractor on the project will be completing subgrade work and placing more concrete on West Fourth Street sometime around the end of the week or beginning of next week.

During this construction process the City of Storm Lake encourages citizens who have to travel in these areas to use caution. Citizens trying to get to businesses on North Lake Avenue are encouraged to use the marked detour route of Seneca from East Milwaukee to 13th Street and 13 Street to North Lake Avenue. This detour route will be in effect for the duration of the reconstruction project on North Lake Avenue. Citizens should also be advised that the intersection of North Lake Avenue and 13th Street is a four-way stop.

"The City Of Storm Lake would like to thank citizens and visitors to our community for their patience and cooperation during this project," Administrator John Call said.
