St. Mary's High School student Stephanie Raulie has been named the winner of the St. Mary's Alumni Association Leadership Scholarship.
Raulie earned $500 towards St. Mary's tuition for the 2002-03 school year. She will be a senior this fall.
"Being a parochial school does not mean we are greater or less than any other school. But rather, I believe we are privileged to have the opportunity to pray, attend mass and educate ourselves more in daily Religion class," Raulie wrote in her application, explaining the value of Catholic education. "Receiving a Catholic education all my life has formed me. I believe it is important to have a faith that keeps on growing."
The scholarship recipient has been involved in the school's Retention Committee, Partner Program, Leadership Class, Mass Planning, Retreat Planning, reading to elementary students, Newspaper staff, Yearbook staff, Individual Speech, Group Speech, Drill Team, Track, choir, drama, volleyball (Team Captain), basketball and others. She was also accepted to the People-to-People Exchange Program.
Raulie is the daughter of Bob and Wendi Raulie.
St. Mary's also awarded a new student scholarship to incoming kindergarten student Trevor Landgraf, son of John and Joyce Landgraf.
A K-8 scholarship was awarded to Joshua Dawson, incoming 6th grade student, son of Beth Dawson.
Funds for the Alumni Association scholarships are raised through the St. Mary's Annual Appeal.
