Funeral Services for Alvin W. Richardson, 77, of Sac City, were held Friday, June 7, at the United Methodist Church, in Sac City, with Reverend Dean McPherson officiating.
Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery, Sac City.Alvin died Wednesday, June 5, at his home following a brief illness.
Alvin was born March 25, 1925, on a farm south and west of Early, the son of Guy and Hattie (Wright) Richardson. He attended school at Early.
On August 30, 1953, Alvin and Phyllis J. Piper were united in marriage at the United Methodist Church in Lake City. They were blessed with four children: Joett, Colette, Dan and David. They farmed in the Early area until moving to Sac City in 1996. Alvin enjoyed farming, working with wood, fishing and rebuilding small engines.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Sac City Lions Club, Farm Bureau and the Republican Party. He especially enjoyed spending time with his children and taking part in his grandchildren's events.
He is survived by his wife Phyllis; two daughters: Joette Lein and her husband Ken of San Diego, CA., Colette Sippel and her husband John of Roselle, IL.; two sons: Dan and wife Sara of Lake City and David and his wife Renee of Glidden; 11 grandchildren: Jason Wattier of Des Moines, Jocelyn Wattier of Sherman Oaks, CA., Brian Wattier of Mammoth Lakes, CA., Jon, Shelly, and Matt Sippel all of Roselle, IL., Danniele, Kelan and Rylan Richardson of Lake City, Kayla and Michael Richardson of Glidden; and one great-granddaughter Nicolette Sippel of Roselle, IL.
Alvin was preceded in death by his parents Guy and Hattie.
