Betty Jean Berkler, 78, of Jacksonville, FL, formerly of Early, died Tuesday, June 4, in Beauclerc Manor after a long illness.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 12 at the First Presbyterian Church in Early, 10:30 a.m., with Reverend Martha Anderson officiating. Visitation is at the Farber and Otteman Funeral Home in Sac City, Tuesday, June 11, 6 - 8 p.m. Burial will be in the Storm Lake Cemetery, Storm Lake. Farber and Otteman Funeral Home in Sac City is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials in her name have been designated to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
Betty was born July 15, 1923 in Early, the daughter of Fayne and Ruby (Rhoades) Haradon. She graduated from Early High School and had one year of secretarial training.
Betty married Russell T. Berkler on January 17, 1943 in Early. The couple made their home in Sioux City where Betty was the long time office manager of Westwood Convalescent and Rest Home. They moved to Scottsbluff, NE., in 1984.
She is survived by her husband Russell, four daughters: Donna Considine and her husband Paul of Scottsbluff, NE, Patricia Litterick and her husband Keith of Lemont, IL, Connie Hornbaker and her husband Chuck of Colorado Springs, CO, and Pam Reidt and her husband Kim of Wilbur, WA; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters: Bernice Peterson of Rapids, WI, and Myra Jones and her husband Darwin of Rockwell City; and one brother: Elwood Haradon and his wife Mary of Dallas, GA.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and infant son James; daughter Sandra and an infant grandson Jonathon.
