Marathon for more than just runners

The Marathon to Marathon isn't just for runners, it's friendship, fun, food and entertainment.

On Friday, June 14, there's a pasta party at the Storm Lake High School. Brett Canney , BV University Track and Cross Country Coach, will speak in the media center.

On Saturday, June 15, before the race, Jenny Lickteig, a high school student from Storm Lake will sing the National Anthem. At 6 a.m. Tim Seuman, sports announcer for channel 9 will be the official starter for the Marathon and Marathon relay.

At 7:30 a.m., Karen Lind will sing the National Anthem in Marathon to start off the 5K run/walk. the Tot Trot will begin at 8:15 a.m. for ages 8 and under.

The Marathon Community Center will be serving omelets at 7 a.m. and turkey tenderloins and pork burgers at 11 a.m. On dtage entertainment at noon will be "Who's Driven?" from the Storm Lake area. It's a variety band playing country, traditional and contemporary rock'n roll. At 9 p.m. "The Edge" from Estherville will play classic rock at Ike's Job Site, Main Street.
