St Mary's beat Wall-Lake View-Auburn in championship game

Kevin Brown had three doubles and drove in two runs, and Tim Brown went 3-for-4 with one RBI as St. Mary's beat Wall Lake View-Auburn 9-2 in the championship game last Saturday night.

Kevin Brown allowed three hits, walked two and struck out four in four innings to get the win. Joe Fitzgerald pitched three perfect innings of relief with three strikeouts.

John Mach had two hits and four RBIs, including a three-run home run.

St. Mary's beat Charter Oak-Ute 18-2 in the first round last Friday. The Panthers had 18 hits in the game. Billy Mach went 3-for-5 with two RBIs. Eric Wordekemper was 3-for-4 and drove in three runs, Jeff Speers 3-for-3 with two RBIs and Nick Netsch 2-for-3 with two RBIs.

Ryan Gessner had a two-run double and Kevin Brown had an RBI double.

Gessner pitched four innings to get the win. He allowed six hits, one earned run, walked five and struck out eight.

St. Mary's is now 3-1 overall on the season.

"We had things going well in both ends," St. Mary's coach Ryan Berg said. "We had a lot of good hitting performances all the way down the lineup and got good pitching performances from guys making their varsity debuts."
