Amy Wulfekuhler won the long jump and Stacy Schmidt captured the 200 meters to highlight Storm Lake's performance at the Spencer Invitational track and field meet last Friday night.
Spencer won the meet with 99 points. Storm Lake was seventh with 39.
Wulfekuhler leaped 16 feet, 7 inches to win the long jump, while Schmidt was clocked in 27.52 seconds in the 200.
The 4x100 relay team of Schmidt, Paige Havens, Morae Youde and Billie Blanchard finished first in a time of 53.01 seconds.
Schmidt also took second in the 100 meters in a time of 13.18 seconds. Lisa Bowman placed sixth in the 3,000 meters in 12:10.96 and sixth in the 1,500 meters in 5:40.30.
The sprint medley relay team of Youde, Blanchard, Jenny Woodford and Wulfekuhler finished fifth in 2:02.92.
Three relay teams finished sixth - the 4x800 in a time of 12:19.22, the distance medley in 5:04.3 and the 4x200 in 2:00.40.
"The girls did a fine job and showed solid improvement from last week," Storm Lake coach John Brostad said. "We had many season and career best times. Our biggest concern is that we have no 100 meter hurdlers, so we don't score in the shuttle hurdle relay or the 100 meter hurdle race. Plus, we didn't score in six other events."
"Not scoring in eight of the 19 events was a problem both last week and this week," Brostad added. "However, the times and distances were better and hopefully having everyone healthy next week will help us improve in that area."
Robyn Daly captured the 3,000 meters and two relay teams were victorious as Sioux Central won the team title in Division 2A. The Rebels scored 99 points. Alta was eighth with 7 points.
Daly won the 3,000 meters in a time of 12:24.76. The 4x200 relay tandem of Nicole Scheiber, Sam Stoeber, Kayla Bright and Candi Kracht won with a time of 1:52.31.
The 4x800 unit of Andrea Lindquist, Tyanne Gardner, Alison Sickelka and Sheena Terranova finished first in 11:26.59.
Placing second were Melanie Thompson in the 3,000 meters in 12:43.36, Daly in the 1,500 in 5:49.79, the distance medley relay in 5:03.47 and the 4x100 relay in a new school record time of 53.04 seconds. On that relay were Scheiber, Stoeber, Bright and Kracht.
Finishing third were Scheiber in the 100 meters in 13.78 seconds, Stoeber in the 200 meters in 28.41, Daly in the 800 in 2:42.87, Thompson in the 1,500 meters in 5:56.08, and the shuttle hurdle relay in 1:16.29.
