SL boys dominate Estherville Invitation
Shane Maier, Justin Koeppe and one relay team all set meet records as Storm Lake won yet another track and field meet as it dominated the Estherville Invitational last Friday.
Storm Lake scored 135 points, 47 more than second place Okoboji.
Maier threw the shot put 56 feet, 5 1/2 inches to set a new meet record. Koeppe ran the 400 meter hurdles in 54.73 seconds to set a new meet mark.
The 4x100 relay tandem of Kurt Hanna, Rory Fulcher, Jeff DeHaan and Koeppe established a new meet record with a time of 43.8 seconds.
Tim Brink won the 3,200 meter run with a time of 10 minutes, 28 seconds. DeHaan captured the 110 high hurdles in 15.61 seconds, while Fulcher won the long jump in 20-6.
The 4x200 relay team of Hanna, Fulcher, DeHaan and Koeppe placed first in a time of 1:32.61.
Placing second for the Tornadoes were Scott Ellens in the 110 high hurdles in 16.45 seconds, Hanna in the 100 meters in 11.57 seconds, Bob Blanchard in the 400 meters in 53.59 seconds, Tyler Radke in the 400 hurdles in 59.36 seconds, Tyler Youde in the 800 meters in 2:04.22 and the high jump in 6-0, DeHaan in the long jump in 19-8 1/4 and Chad Hotovec in the discus in 148-7.
Finishing third were Ellens in the high jump in 5-8, Maier in the discus in 146-11 1/4, and the mile medley relay team of Fulcher, Ryan Brock, Ellens and Brink in 3:53.21.
Blanchard took fourth in the 100 meters in 11.93 seconds. The 4x400 relay team was fifth in 3:40.15, as was Mike Keller in the 400 meters in 54.84 seconds.
Chuck Stark placed sixth in the 1,600 meters in 5:07.89, as did Keller in the 200 meters in 24.24 seconds and Brandon Ebersole in the 3,200 in 10:54.
