Edna M. Wattier, age 73, of Arnolds Park, died Tuesday, April 9, 2002 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota after a brief illness.
The funeral service was held Friday, April 12th at 1:30 p.m. at Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home, 300 Cayuga Street, Storm Lake with Reverend Patrick O'Kane of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Early, officiating. Burial was in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Early.
Edna Mae Thomas was born July 25, 1928 in Elgin, Illinois, the daughter Harry and Gladys Cora (Tower) Thomas. She graduated from Elgin High School and attended Buena Vista College in Storm Lake.
Edna was a homemaker and mother. She worked as the coordinator of the Spirit Lake Mainsail Chamber of Commerce for six years and previously had worked as a hostess for Brooks Lodge at the Lakes.
Edna loved to play golf and spend time with her family, she took special care of her son Kenneth. She was a member of the Navy Commodores of Spirit Lake and enjoyed fishing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and by two brothers, John and Louis.
She is survived by four sons, Kenneth A. Wattier of Clear Lake, David J. Wattier and his wife, Helen of West Des Moines, Thomas S. Wattier and his wife, Vicki of Gunnison, Colorado and John R. Wattier of McAllen, Texas; seven grandchildren, Trisha, A.J., Jason, Jocelyn, Brian, Julie and Stacy. Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Elaine Thomas of California and numerous extended family members and friends.
