Funeral services for Ida E. Zemke, 94, of Spencer, formerly of Denver and Storm Lake were held Wednesday, April 10, at the Sliefert Redig Funeral Home in Storm Lake with Pastor Todd Schlitter officiating.
Burial was in the Storm Lake Cemetery.
Ida Esther Zemke was born on January 20, 1908 at Dubuque, the daughter of Pastor John and Elizabeth (Lutz) Zemke. Ida graduated from high school and then attended Business College in Des Moines. She returned to Storm Lake and worked for the Water Department and later for Iowa Public Service Company until she moved to Denver in 1946, where she was employed at Mid West Steel until she retired in 1974. Ida loved to travel the world, and sew. She was a 50-year member of the Trinity Methodist Church in Denver.
Preceding Ida in death were her parents, two brothers, Elmer and Milton Zemke, one sister, Viola Meyer, and a special friend Dorothy Georgitti.
Survivors include her two nephews, Don and his wife Donna Meyer of Spencer, and Bob and his wife Val Zemke of Edmond, OK; four great-nephews, Kevin Dwyer, Daron Meyer, Eric and Ryan Zemke; one sister-in-law, Lavonne Zemke, relatives and friends.
