Rory Fulcher finished first in two individual events as Storm Lake captured seven first-place finishes to win the Cherokee Tomahawk Relays on Saturday.
Storm Lake scored 118 points, easily outdistancing second place LeMars' total of 77.
Fulcher won the 400 meters with a time of 52.77 seconds and also won the long jump with a leap of 20 feet, 5 3/4 inches. Jeff DeHaan won the 110 meter high hurdles in 14.8 seconds.
Justin Koeppe took the 200 meters in 22.27 seconds, while Shane Maier won the shot put again with a throw of 55-9.
Two relay teams were victorious. The 4x200 tandem of Kurt Hanna, Bob Blanchard, DeHaan and Mike Keller posted a time of 1 minute, 33.63 seconds.
The 4x100 unit of Hanna, Blanchard, DeHaan and Keller turned in a time of 45.04 seconds.
Finishing second for the Tornadoes were Chad Hotovec in the discus in 144-1, DeHaan in the long jump in 19-11, Hanna in the 100 meters in 11.29 seconds, Tim Brink in the 1,600 meters in 4:57.89, Tyler Radke in the 400 hurdles in 1:01.36, and the 4x400 relay team of Pete Harder, Fulcher, Keller and Koeppe in 3:37.94.
Scott Ellens placed third in three events - the high jump with a leap of 5-8, the 400 meters in 55.69 and the 110 high hurdles in 16.19. Brink was also third in the 3,200 meters in 10:40.17.
Hotovec was fourth in the shot put in 46-9, as were Maier in the discus in 140-6, Fulcher in the 200 meters in 23.25, and the 4x800 relay in 8:55.91.
"We scored in 23 of a possible 29 places. That is remarkable," Storm Lake coach Dean Nicholson said. "We were short-handed for part of the meet due to the juniors taking the ACT test. All in all, it was a very impressive start."
Stacy Schmidt finished first in two events, and Paige Havens and Amy Wulfekuhler each placed first in one as Storm Lake finished fifth in the Tomahawk Relays last Friday.
Sioux City Heelan won the meet with 117 points. Storm Lake scored 51.
Schmidt won the 100 meters in a time of 13.13 seconds and took the 200 in 27.37. Havens won the 400 hurdles in 1:10.99 and Wulfekuhler the long jump in 16-3 1/2.
The 4x100 relay tandem of Schmidt, Havens, Morae Youde and Billie Blanchard placed second in 54.04 seconds. Lisa Bowman was fourth in the 3,000 meters with a time of 12:22.17.
Placing fifth were Bowman in the 1,500 meters in 5:56.61, the distance medley relay in 5:26.93, and the 4x400 relay in 4:48.36.
The 4x200 relay finished sixth in a time of 1:59.63, as did the sprint medley in 2:11.91.
