The Iowa Watercolor Society's 24th Annual Touring Exhibition will be on display at the Witter Gallery from April 2 through April 27.
This extremely popular exhibit showcases award winning artists from across the state. This year 50 watercolors were selected from the works of nearly 100 different Iowa artists. This exhibit is available for public viewing at the Witter Gallery through the generous support of Citizen's 1st National Bank.
The Iowa Watercolor Society was organized in Cedar Rapids in 1977 by a small group of devoted watercolorists, led by Joseph Messner. Over the years, this group has grown to include painters of all ages and levels of experience. Jean Grastorf, a graduate of the Rochester Institute of Technology and a specialist with the demanding medium of transparent watercolor, served as the judge for this year's competition. Ms. Grastorf has been awarded Signature Memberships in the American, National, Midwest and Southern Watercolor Societies. He work is regularly shown in galleries and has earned awards in juried exhibitions across the United States. She is a popular instructor and has conducted many workshops.
