Model railroad club forming

Thursday, March 28, 2002

A new club for beginning model railroaders is being formed at the historic Cherokee Illinois Central Railroad Depot.

Workshops will be held on the last Thursday of each month through October at the depot, 119 S. 4th Street. The restored building boasts one of northwest Iowa's best model layouts.

Each session begins at 7 p.m., and is designed to appeal to beginners and hobbyists, and especially to parent-child combinations. Anyone who would like to learn about model railroading is invited, and there is no charge.

The organization - as yet unnamed - is supported by Kalmbach Publishing Co., producer of Model Railroader magazine. More information is available at the web site www.greatesthobby.com, or contact Marvin Good for more information on the local model railroading events, (712 ) 225-5453.
