BV softball team drops pair on spring trip to Florida

KISSIMMEE, Fla. - Gelene Bousum scattered nine hits and allowed just two earned runs, but it wasn't enough as Augsburg edged Buena Vista 4-3 on the first day at the Rebel Games in Kissimmee, Fla.

Bousum walked none and struck out six over seven innings in getting the loss. Augsburg scored a run in the sixth inning to go ahead.

Megan O'Malley belted an RBI double for the Beavers, while Sara Salton drove in two runs. Katie Onken had a double.

Otterbein defeated Buena Vista 9-1 in the second game. Laura Lunders, Salton and Jeni Rydberg each had a double. Rydberg drove in the lone run.

Kara Rea started and allowed 10 hits, five earned runs, walked none and struck out one in 3 2/3 innings. Kelly Kalvelage pitched 2 1/2 innings in relief, giving up two hits and one earned run.

Buena Vista is now 1-6 overall.
