Updates from the Storm Lake Police Department and the Buena Vista Sheriff's Office.

ACCIDENTS

On March 15, at 8 p.m., an accident was reported to the Storm Lake Police Department. Sometime between March 7 - 10, a hit and run occurred at an unknown time and at an unknown location. A 1998 Chevrolet, owned by Derrick Barglof, of 517 Expansion Boulevard, was parked and an unknown vehicle struck the right door of his vehicle. Damage to the vehicle is estimated at $400.

On March 14, at 11:25 a.m., an accident occurred in the McCord Manor parking lot located at 210 East 13th Street. A 1998 GMC, owned by Schwans Sales Enterprises Inc. was parked in the parking lot. A 1995 Chevrolet, driven by Cheryl Gauldin 54, of 230 Lake Avenue, was backing out of a parking space and struck the Schwans vehicle. Damage to the vehicles is estimated at $800 for the Schwans vehicle and $100 for the Gauldin vehicle.

On March 14, at 12:13 p.m., an accident occurred at the intersection of East 5th Street and Oneida Street. A 1996 Plymouth, driven by Brenda Dodge, 37, of 200 Hudson Street, was traveling westbound on East 5th Street. A 1996 Chevrolet, driven by Katie Sievers, 15, of 309 College Street, was traveling southbound on Oneida Street. The Sievers vehicle stopped at the stop sign and proceeded through the intersection and struck the Dodge vehicle. Sievers was charged with Failure to Obey A Stop Sign. Damage to the vehicles is estimated at $600 for the Dodge vehicle and $200 for the Sievers vehicle.

On March 15, at 7:56 a.m., an accident occurred at 621 Tornado Drive. A 2000 Chevrolet, owned by Frank Hoskins, of 1708 East Milwaukee Avenue, was parked in the 600 block of Tornado Drive. A 1991 Dodge, driven by Irma Arambula, 46, of 531 Russell Street, was traveling westbound in the 600 block of Tornado Drive, slid on the ice and struck the Hoskins vehicle. Arambula was charged with Failure To Maintain Control. Damage to the vehicles is estimated at $500 for the Hoskins vehicle and $400 for the Arambula vehicle.

On March 15, sometime after 9 p.m., a hit and run accident occurred in the IBP parking lot, 300 Flindt Drive. A 1993 Oldsmobile, owned by Tami Hansen, 510 East 6th Street, #9, was parked in the parking lot when it was struck by an unknown vehicle which left the scene. Damage to the Hansen vehicle was estimated at $750.

On March 15, at 3:50 p.m., an accident occurred in the 800 block of Lake Avenue. A 1994 Pontiac, driven by Reba Adams, 75, of 612 Superior Street, was traveling southbound on Lake Avenue. A 1987 Chevrolet, driven by Brian Burke, 16, of 1315 Lochedem Drive, was also traveling southbound on Lake Avenue. The Burke vehicle attempted to change lanes and struck the Adams vehicle. Burke was charged with Improper Use of Lanes. Damage to the vehicles is estimated at $800 for the Adams vehicle and $100 for the Burke vehicle.

On March 15, at 5 p.m., an accident occurred in a Buena Vista University parking lot, 610 West 4th Street. A 1992 Honda, driven by Andrew Patton, 15, of 1601 Lochedem Drive, was parked in a stall at the BVU parking lot. A 1987 Ford, driven by Tyler Nichols, 17, of 712 Meadow Lane, was directly behind the Patton vehicle. As the Patton vehicle backed out of the parking stall, it hit the Nichols vehicle. Damage to the vehicles is estimated at none for the Patton vehicle and $900 for the Nichols vehicle.

On March 16, at 12:12 p.m., an accident occurred at the intersection of 12th Street and Lake Avenue. A 2000 Chevrolet, driven by Terri Swanson, 43, of 130 Seneca Street, had a green light and was traveling east through the intersection. A 1995 Dodge, driven by Trinity Rodger, 23, of Sibley, saw the traffic light, though it was yellow, and proceeded into the intersection striking the Swanson vehicle. Rodger was charged with Failure To Obey A Traffic Control Device. Damage to the vehicles is estimated at $5000 for the Swanson vehicle and $5000 for the Rodger vehicle.

THEFT

On Saturday, March 16, Chris Konradi of Perry, reported the theft of his jacket and gloves from Malarky's Pub, 147 Flindt Drive. Value of the items is estimated at $400.

On Saturday, March 16, Isabel Morales of Alta, reported the theft of her cell phone from Malarky's Pub, 147 Flindt Drive. The cell phone was valued at $100.

VANDALISM

On Sunday, March 17, Thuy Nguyen, 518 East 4th Street, reported of a broken windshield on her vehicle while parked at her residence. Damage to the vehicle is estimated at $300.
