In conjunction with the Pocahontas County Sheriff and the Laurens Police Department the Laurens-Marathon School administration conducted an unannounced search of the building using "Bear" , the Pocahontas County Sheriff's drug dog. After a thorough search of the building, there were no drugs found.
"I am very pleased to confirm that we continue to be a drug-free building," commented Michael Wright, Superintendent. An initial search was done in early January. "I want to assure our students, parents, and community members that we now have, and will continue to have, a safe and drug free environment for our students."
