Fred G. Stork, 73, of Odebolt, died Monday, March 18, at his home, following a lengthy illness.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 21, at the St. Martin's Catholic Church in Odebolt with burial in the St. Martin's Cemetery.
Fred was born April 3, 1928, the son of Henry and Helen (Julich) Stork, on a farm south of Breda. He attended schools at Mount Carmel and Breda, graduating in 1946. After graduating he entered the U.S. Army Air Corp and served for three years, then served eight years in the U.S. Air Force Reserves as Staff Sergeant.
Fred was a member of the St. Martin's Catholic Church in Odebolt and a member of the American Legion, Breda. He joined the graphic art field as printer, pressman, troubleshooter and moved large presses. He was well known in the tri-state area, retiring from Laurens in 1991.
Fred married Marilyn Hoefling of Odebolt, November 20, 1954. They were blessed with three sons and three daughters. His hobbies include restoring antique cars and wood boats, wood working, playing baseball and softball. He was a loyal Cub's fan since 1937. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and was considered a "jack of all trades."
He is survived by his wife: Marilyn; two sons: David (Lori) of Lake View and Daniel (Lesa) of Coon Rapids; three daughters: Deborah Stehr (Doug) of Lake View, Dianna Schonts (Scott) of Odebolt, and Denise Holmes (Daniel) of Mt. Carmel; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild; mother-in-law Mary Johnson of Odebolt; sisters, Julie Stork of Breda, Sister Mary Myron Stork of David, KY., Paula Stork of Carroll, and Helen Ann Wesling of Breda; brother Hank (Ann) of Kelsey, CA.; sister-in-laws Mary Ann Stork of Carroll, and Ilene Stork of Lincoln, NE.; and many nieces and nephews.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son Dennis; brothers Matt, Victor, Joe, John, and Richard; sisters Josephine Reinken and Marge Ballard.
