Leo L. Dick, age 90, of Silver Bay, MN, formerly of Schaller, died Saturday, March 16, 2002 at St. Joseph Hospital in St. Paul, MN after a brief illness.
Funeral Mass was held Tuesday, March 19th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Schaller with the Reverend Patrick O'Kane officiating.
Burial will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery, Schaller. A memorial fund has been established.
Leo L. Dick was born June 17, 1911 in Schaller, the son of John and Magdalena (Schmitt) Dick. He received his education from the Schaller country school.
Leo was engaged in farming in the Schaller, Sioux Rapids and Barrett, Minnesota areas where he was well known for raising Black Angus cattle.
On November 15, 1938 he married Marita O'Tool at Sac City. Leo was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Silver Bay, MN. and held membership in the Knights of Columbus.
Leo was especially devoted to his wife Marita and his seven children. He was a sensitive, friendly and caring man who used his talents of woodworking (using black walnut), gardening and grafting fruit trees to enhance the lives of friends and relatives.
His family includes his wife Marita, Silver Bay, MN; three sons, James Dick and his wife Patt, Plymouth, MI, Ray Dick, Bloomington, MN and Roy Dick and his wife Sally, Woodbury, MN; four daughters, Donna Moe, Silver Bay, MN, Melisa Dick, St. Joseph, MN, Diane Iverson and her husband Don, Woodbury, MN and Mary Lind and her husband Eric, Woodbury, MN; nineteen grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Miller, Storm Lake, and a brother Bernard Dick, Storm Lake.
He was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers and two sisters.
