The Storm Lake High School Speech Team had 27 entries at the state contest held last weekend at Sibley-Ocheyden.
Nineteen received an overall "I" rating. Eight received a "II."
Three students were selected to perform at the All State Festival, which will be April 8 at the University of Northern Iowa.
Cindy Hernandez will perform in two events, poetry and storytelling. This is the first time in 14 years a freshman has earned All State in two events.
Freshman Staci Khunes earned All State in storytelling.
Sophomore Jennifer Lickteig earned All State in literary program. She was also a Large Group All State performer in solo mime.
Only 400 All State speakers are chosen from the 14,000 that compete across the state. One-hundred are from Northwest Iowa.
