Stacy Schmidt continued her assault on the sprint events at indoor track and field meets.
The senior placed first in two events and set Lakes Conference indoor records in the process to highlight Storm Lake's performance at the Lakes Conference indoor meet on Tuesday night at Sioux Center.
Schmidt set a record in the 55 meters with a clocking of 7.48 seconds and also set a new mark in the 200 meters in 27.82 seconds despite stumbling on the curve. The old records were 7.55 and 28.36.
No team standings were kept in the meet.
Amy Wulfekuhler won the long jump for the second year in a row with a leap of 16 feet. The meet record was 16-2 1/2.
Paige Havens placed third in the 200 meters in 28.71 seconds, while Lisa Bowman took fifth in the 1,500 meters in 5 minutes, 37 seconds.
The 4x400 relay tandem of Morae Youde, Billie Blanchard, Wulfekuhler and Havens placed fourth in a time of 4:35.3.
"All the girls did a nice job again," Storm Lake coach John Brostad said. "Their efforts were strong and their attitude is very good. We have solid upperclass leadership and this is an enjoyable group of girls to work with each day."
Storm Lake will compete in the Midwest High School Championships on Saturday in Vermillion, S.D. The Tornadoes run in the Dan Lennon Invitational on Monday in Vermillion.
