Organizers of the 2002 Windfest celebration told the Alta Chamber of Commerce Tuesday evening that the status of the biannual event is "shaky" right now, as funds for the endeavor are in short supply.
The biggest sponsor, Enron Wind, is currently in the process of being bought out by General Electric, and company officials have told Windfest planners that they will need to wait until the buyout phase is complete before any decision on funding for the Alta event is made by new GE board members.
"We desperately need others to pick up different parts of it," Windfest planning committee member Dr. Paul Hill said. "We don't have much money right now, and we need help from other groups to make this happen."
Organizers said timing of the celebration is also making difficult to secure attractions such as an antique motorcycle show, as some are unwilling to come due to the possible inclement weather in October.
