Memorial services for JoAnn Ross, 71, of Spencer, were held Monday, March 18, at the Grace United Methodist Church, Spencer, with Reverend Paul Hansen officiating.
Arrangements were made by Warner Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association of Iowa, 5601 Douglas Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa 50310.
JoAnn Ross, the daughter of Dale and Wilma Bloom Witt, was born January 7, 1931, in Storm Lake. Her childhood years were spent in Storm Lake, where she received her education, graduating from Storm Lake High School.
She was married to Arthur (Vern) Ross on July 23, 1950 in Storm Lake. They lived in a variety of locations, but settled in Spencer in 1956. She was a homemaker, and assisted in the operations of Witt Sales Co. She enjoyed traveling, reading, sewing and was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes, the Iowa State Cyclones, and the Chicago Cubs. JoAnn was much loved for her home cooking, her spirit of selfless giving, and most of all, for providing unconditional support for her husband and children. Her greatest joy was spending quiet time with her children and their families.
Mrs. Ross died of cancer at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines on Wednesday, March 13, at the age of 71. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dale and Wilma Witt of Storm Lake, and father-in-law, Arthur S. Ross of Denver, Co.
JoAnn is survived by her husband, Arthur (Vern) Ross of Spencer; three sons, Steve, of Royal, Scott of Philadelphia, PA.; and Kelly of Spencer; a daughter, Kathy Kunath of Waukee; nine grandchildren and her mother-in-law, Marge Ross of Spencer.
