Three BVU students arrested after disturbance

On the afternoon of Friday, March 17, at approximately 2:30 a.m., the Storm Lake Police Department was dispatched to Pierce Hall on the campus of Buena Vista University in reference to a call by Buena Vista University Security to assist with a subject who was intoxicated and causing problems.

Police met with University security personnel and the subject who was causing the disturbance. Police determined the subject to be a student and identified him as Michael Briant, 22, of Des Moines. Briant was arrested without incident for Public Intoxication. As Police made the arrest two other subjects interfered and began arguing with police and security personnel. Officers ordered the subjects to leave the area and they refused. Police then arrested Brandon Johnson, 21, of Alta. Johnson attempted to resist but was subdued. Police also arrested Darin Radke, 21, of Alta.

Storm Lake Police charged Briant and Radke with Public Intoxication. They were transported to the Buena Vista County Jail and booked in on $325 cash bond.

Police charge Johnson with Public Intoxication and Interference with Official Acts. He was booked into the County Jail on $650 cash bond.
