Mabel L. Sanderman, age 91, of Schaller, died Wednesday, March 6, 2002 at the Odebolt Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Odebolt.
Funeral services will be Monday, March 11th at 2 p.m. at the Immanuel Reformed United Church of Christ in Schaller with the Reverend Henry Huddleston officiating. Burial will be in Immanuel Reformed United Church of Christ Cemetery in rural Schaller.
Friends may call between 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. on Sunday at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Schaller, where the family will be present.
Serving as pallbearers are Paul Franzkowiak, Ed Haselhoff, Carey Schmidt, Casey Schmidt, Marvin Stille and Wayne Werner.
Mabel LaNore Chamberlin was born February 17, 1911 in Eden Township near Schaller in Sac County, the daughter of Roscoe and Louise (Seek) Chamberlin. She attended country school at Eden No. 9 for 2 years and then Schaller schools, graduating in 1928. She then attended Iowa State Teachers College (now UNI) in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Beginning at age 18, Mabel taught at the Eden No. 4 country school for 5 years and at the Eden No. 9 for 3 more years.
On February 21, 1937 she married Clarence Sanderman at the Methodist Church in Schaller. She later transferred her church membership to the Immanuel Reformed United Church of Christ and was a member of the Ladies Aid.
Mabel liked flower and vegetable gardening and enjoyed sewing, doing crafts, painting and traveling. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandsons Rodney and Kevin, and visits from former students.
Mabel's family includes her daughter Karen McCrea of Lake View and her son Ken Sanderman of Schaller; two grandsons: Rod McCrea of Tiffin and Kevin McCrea of West Des Moines; a sister-in-law Evelyn Sanderman of Schaller; three nephews, Dale Sanderman, Donn Sanderman and Ron Sanderman and their families and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister Gladys and a brother Earl.
