Funeral services were held for Genevieve Leege, 98, of Lytton, Monday, March 4, at Emanuel-St. John Lutheran Church, Lytton, with Pastor Keith Sievers officiating. Burial was in Emanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Lytton.
Farber and Otteman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Genevieve died Friday, March 1, at the Park View Care Center following a lengthy illness.
Genevieve Witt was born October 14, 1903, in Sac City, the daughter of William E. And Ada (Brown) Witt. Genevieve lived all of her life in Sac County, most of those years on farms in the Lytton area. She was a member of the first class to graduate from the 12th grade at the Lytton High School.
Genevieve married Arthur E. Leege September 11, 1923, at the Emanuel Lutheran Church Parsonage, Coon Valley Township. They farmed in the Lytton area for many years, moving into Lytton in 1983. Arthur died on September 27, 1987.
Genevieve loved to garden. In the spring of 1993, at the age of 90, she planted her garden before entering the Park View Care Center in April. She was an active member of the Emanuel Lutheran Church, teaching Sunday School for many years, a member of Dorcas Circle and the adult Bible Class.
Her family includes her daughter, Wanda Ditzel and her husband Harold of Bella Vista, AR; eleven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great granddaughters; sister Mildred Willson of Minneapolis, MN., and a sister-in-law Lillian Owen of Fertile.
Genevieve was preceded in death by her husband Arthur Leege, son Lawrence Leege, daughter Oma Roper and a grandson.
