Elsie R. Haburn, 89, Cherokee, passed away Saturday, March 2, at the Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital in Cherokee after a short illness.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 5, at 2 p.m., at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Pastor Jim Steen will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Cherokee.
Elsie was born January 13, 1913 in Cherokee County, to John Carl Munster and Helen Pollock Munster. She was married to Thomas Haburn on November 4, 1942 at Dakota City, Nebraska. She had been a cook for several restaurants in Cherokee and had also been an Avon representative, retiring in 1969. She was a former member of the Womens Relief Corp. She enjoyed crocheting.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Thomas on February 7, 1987, a son Carl John Haburn in 1965, one sister Bernice Batterson, also one nephew and one niece.
She is survived by one daughter, Florence Phelan and her husband Harold of Cherokee; four grandchildren: Cathy and her husband Bill Robinson of Cherokee and their children Justin, Seth, Marty, Mindy and her husband George and their children Payton and Lennie; Cindy Sargent and her husband Dan of Correctionville, and their son Kyle; Tracy Hoeppner and his wife Caty of Cherokee and their children Brady and Brookelyn; Cody Phelan of Cherokee, one sister Helen Behrendts and husband William, Camdenton, Mo.
