Funeral services for Marie Boyd, 80, of Storm Lake, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, at the St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Storm Lake, with Pastor Mark Youngquist officiating. Burial will be in the Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established for park benches along the lake. Sliefert Redig Funeral Home, Storm Lake, is in charge of arrangements.
Catherine Marie Ehman was born on the family farm near Rembrandt, on September 15, 1921, the daughter of Dick and Grace (Onnen) Ehman. She attended school at Rembrandt. On February 12, 1950 she was united in marriage to Morris Earl Boyd. The couple opened Puffs White Cap Inn in 1955. Marie worked as a bartender as long as her health permitted. She enjoyed gardening, reading, cooking and playing shuffleboard but she especially enjoyed her grandchildren.
Marie died on Saturday, March 2, at the Buena Vista Manor where she had been a resident since December 21, 2001.
Preceding Marie in death were her parents, her husband Morris on November 1, 1979, her daughter Carla Jean Boyd on May 7, 1995, one sister, Anna Ackerman, and two brothers, Ben and Henry Ehman, and one son-in-law, Gary Davidson.
Survivors include her daughter, Francine Davidson of Austin, MN; and three sons, Carl and his wife Marsha Boyd, Calvin Boyd, and Cary and his wife Julie Boyd all of Storm Lake; eleven grandchildren, Tim and his wife Karen Davidson, Tom and his wife Dawn Davidson, Tammy and Trisha Davidson, Chris and his wife Jeana Boyd, Amy and her husband Justin Flink, Matt Boyd and his fiancee Emily Siefer, Jodi, David, Carly Boyd, and Alex Wadsley; three great-grandchildren, Sarah and Melissa Davidson, and Carter Boyd. Also surviving are two brothers, John and his wife Millie Ehman of Sioux Rapids, and Otto Ehman of Laurens, and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
