On Friday, March 1, at approximately 1:30 p.m., a female subject came into the Storm Lake Police Station and reported that she had just been physically assaulted in the parking lot of the Sichanh Asian Food Store located at 812 Flindt Drive.
While conducting an investigation, police determined that the victim had been physically assaulted by another female, who was known to her, in the parking lot of the store and then the suspect fled the scene in a mini van.
Police put a broadcast out to area law enforcement agencies to be on the lookout for the suspect vehicle. At 2:05 p.m., a Buena Vista County Sheriff's Deputy located the suspect in her vehicle in the parking lot of the Fareway Store. Storm Lake Officers responded and took her into custody.
Storm Lake Police charged the suspect, identified as Ngoc Nguyen, 30, of Storm Lake with Assault Causing Injury (serious misdemeanor). She was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on $1,950 cash bond.
The victim drove herself to the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center to be treated for minor lacerations to the face.
